Terms

Terms for participating in the Spectrapress pre-release beta.

Effective October 6, 2026

These Beta Terms ("Terms") apply to your access to and use of pre-release versions of Spectrapress provided by Type & Signal LLC ("Type & Signal," "we," "us," or "our"). By installing or using a beta build, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the beta.

Eligibility and access

You must be legally able to enter into these Terms and must have authorization to connect Spectrapress to each Ghost publication and staff account you use. Beta access may be limited, changed, suspended, or ended at any time.

TestFlight and Apple services are also governed by the applicable agreements and policies provided by Apple.

Pre-release software

Spectrapress is unfinished, pre-release software supplied for evaluation and testing. Features may be incomplete, inaccurate, unstable, changed, or removed. The app may contain defects that cause formatting changes, failed transfers, duplicate content, loss of local work, publication errors, downtime, or other damage.

Do not rely on Spectrapress as the only copy of important content or as the sole tool available to manage a production publication.

Backups and review

You are responsible for maintaining current backups or Ghost exports and for checking changes before and after they are sent to Ghost. Begin with a test publication or non-critical draft. Verify content, authorship, visibility, status, scheduling, formatting, links, and media in Ghost Admin and on the public site before relying on a change.

Your accounts and permissions

You are responsible for protecting your Apple ID, devices, Ghost account, sessions, verification codes, and Admin API keys. Do not share credentials with Type & Signal support.

Spectrapress does not grant or expand Ghost permissions. You may use only publications, content, and staff actions you are authorized to access. You are responsible for actions performed through your connected account.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you create or control. You grant Type & Signal only the limited rights needed to process content through the app at your direction and to review material you voluntarily submit with a support or beta report.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to use, edit, upload, and publish the content and media you provide. You remain responsible for publication decisions, legal compliance, accuracy, permissions, releases, licenses, and notices relating to that content.

Acceptable use

You may not use Spectrapress to:

  • access a Ghost publication or account without authorization;
  • violate law or the rights of another person;
  • distribute malware or intentionally disrupt a service;
  • probe, circumvent, or defeat security or access controls, except for good-faith testing specifically authorized by Type & Signal; or
  • interfere with other beta participants, Ghost operators, Apple services, or hosting providers.

Feedback

You may provide feedback voluntarily. You grant Type & Signal permission to use that feedback without restriction or compensation to improve Spectrapress and related products. Do not include third-party confidential information or credentials in feedback.

Third-party services

Spectrapress interoperates with services provided by Apple, Ghost, Ghost hosting providers, and other services you choose. Those services are independent of Type & Signal and governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for their availability, security, changes, data practices, or actions.

Spectrapress is an independent product and is not made, endorsed, or supported by the Ghost Foundation or Ghost(Pro).

Intellectual property

Spectrapress, its design, software, branding, and documentation are owned by Type & Signal or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited right to use an authorized beta build under these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.

You may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or reverse engineer Spectrapress except where applicable law expressly permits an activity that these Terms cannot restrict.

Confidentiality of private beta materials

Unless Type & Signal identifies a build or feature as public, non-public beta builds, unreleased features, invitations, documentation, and communications should be treated as confidential. You may discuss publicly available information and your own content, but please report security issues privately to support@spectrapress.app.

No warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spectrapress and the beta program are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, or data preservation.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Type & Signal and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of content, data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from or related to the beta, even if advised that such damage is possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Type & Signal's total liability arising from or related to the beta will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Type & Signal for the beta during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim or US $25.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the beta at any time. Type & Signal may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to operate the beta, protect users or services, address misuse or security concerns, or end the program.

Before uninstalling, export or otherwise preserve important local drafts. Uninstalling Spectrapress does not delete content already stored on Ghost and may not delete data retained in iCloud.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, feedback, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law—will survive.

Changes

We may change Spectrapress, the beta program, or these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by revising the effective date and, when appropriate, providing notice through the app, website, TestFlight notes, or another reasonable channel. Continued use after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your residence requires otherwise. Courts with jurisdiction in North Carolina will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, unless applicable law provides another required forum.
